NITRA is not only the oldest town of Slovakia, it is now an important economic centre of the western Slovakia, seat of two universities and agricultural education and research.

As far as population number is concerned (83,265), NITRA is the fourth biggest town of Slovakia. It is a modern town with varied cultural life (with events like Theatre of Nitra, or the Musical Spring of Nitra, nation-wide celebration of harvest) and business activities (International agricultural fair Agrokomplex) and many other exhibitions organized at the site in Chrenová).
